Cato's remark
Cato the elder (Marcus Porcius Cato Censorius maior) was a Roman senator that concluded every speech with the remark that he thought that Carthage should be destroyed.
It took some time, but eventually Rome destroyed Carthage in 146 before Christ, 3 years after Cato died,
That’s why I call the proposition on every page of this website Cato’s remark.
Cato's remark this year:
Furthermore I propose that every European should be able to choose the country of which he will be a resident.
(We ourself lean toward Iceland, as they have seriously tackled the energy problem and thus the climate problem, have long summer nights and are rightfully afraid of elves and trolls. Of course they also have nasty habits, like killing whales. On the other hand a many mother herring must have thought the same about the Dutch)
Unfortunately, like we can choose every supermarket as long as it’s name is Albert Heyn, as a resident of Amsterdam we are stuck with the Netherlands. We grit our teeth and put up with it.
